Email Filing Assistant 5.3.3 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of Email Filing Assistant 5.3.3 for macOS.
This update resolves a long-standing issue affecting Gmail accounts in Apple Mail. When Email Filing Assistant instructed Apple Mail to move a message between Gmail mailboxes, Apple Mail could create a copy in the destination mailbox while leaving the original message in place.
This behaviour was caused by the way Gmail mailboxes and labels are handled through Apple Mail’s automation interface. As a result, an operation that appeared to be a normal mailbox move could behave like a copy.
Gmail moves now work correctly
Email Filing Assistant 5.3.3 introduces a dedicated handling method for moves between Gmail mailboxes.
Messages are now copied to the selected destination mailbox and then removed from the original Gmail mailbox. From the user’s perspective, the message is moved as expected, without leaving an unwanted duplicate behind.
The new behaviour applies specifically when the destination mailbox belongs to Gmail accounts. Moves into Exchange, iCloud and other supported account types continue to use their existing filing method.
A more reliable filing experience
This fix restores the expected distinction between the two filing actions:
Move places the message in the selected mailbox and removes it from the original mailbox.
Copy places an additional copy in the selected mailbox while keeping the original message in place.
Users who previously encountered duplicate messages when filing Gmail emails should update to version 5.3.3.
Thank you to everyone who reported the issue and helped us verify the solution.
